It is no exaggeration to say that volunteers make Eggcup work.  Eggcup could not function without our wonderfully willing, enthusiastic and upbeat volunteers.  We are so grateful for everything you do.  We know it can be hard work but we know that you also realise that it’s worth it.  Every hour given is essential.  Every task you do is needed.  All of your efforts are making a difference to people and to our community.

We always need new volunteers because people’s circumstances change, especially at the moment.  We can struggle when volunteers need to pull out from a shift at the last minute, though we understand why that happens.  We could benefit from a core of volunteers who can guarantee their availability for a particular slot. Some people come for several days a week and others dedicate a morning or a few hours once a week.  It’s up to you, what you can fit in with your other commitments.

Much of the work in the hub is physical, though some is light work.  There are many different tasks involved in keeping the whole operation running in the hub including: customer service, logging food in and out on our IT system, working in our food prep room to portion or bag up foods, safely moving and organising food stocks in the warehouse, loading and unloading vans of food, and you can never have too much cleaning!  We also need drivers for our refrigerated vans and people willing to drive their own cars to make regular out-of-hours collections of food from retail outlets.

We offer induction and we are Covid-19 secure.  If you’re interested in volunteering, please get in touch!
