It is no exaggeration to say that volunteers make Eggcup work.  Eggcup could not function without its team of wonderfully willing, enthusiastic and upbeat volunteers.  We are so grateful for everything you do.  We know it can be hard work, we know it can be demanding – but we know that you also realise that it’s worth it.  Every hour given is essential.  Every task you do is needed.  All of your efforts are making a difference to people who really value you giving up your time to help out.

We always need new volunteers because at the moment people’s circumstances change and if a volunteer needs to go back to work then we regretfully have to let them go.  Some people come for several days a week and others dedicate a morning or an afternoon once a week.  It’s up to you, what you can fit in with your other commitments and the energy you have available.  Much of the work in the depot is physical, though some is lighter than others, and you’ll be on your feet for hours at a time.  We also always need community drivers with their own good-sized vehicle to deliver to members and also to deliver frozen meals to vulnerable people who are shielding.  And we need drivers to make regular out-of-hours collections of food from retail outlets.  As we move towards a town-centre community hub, we’ll also need volunteers for customer service in the hub.  We welcome volunteer members.

We offer induction and we are Covid-19 secure.  If you’re interested in volunteering, please get in touch with Phil Tarney, our operations manager, on 01524 389584
